The bank uses internal credit parameters to evaluate a loan application. This methodology is not disclosed to the client. Some clients are rejected, even though they have a decent salary package. One possible reason is that the applicant may already have several loans outstanding such that the bank is uncomfortable with burdening the applicant with additional debt. Another possible reason is issue with the credit history, such as several late payments, or major issue such as a write off in CBC report. If the client has reason to believe that the report is erroneous, he/she has the right to demand CBC make corrections. In the end, the bank exercises discretion when it comes to the final decision.
